Hanuman Jayanti – The Festival of Lord Hanuman

Lord Hanuman is a Hindu God & is a true devotee of Lord Rama. Hanuman is dear to all the cosmic gods and goddess in the universe. He is worshipped with zeal as a symbol of physical strength and devotion towards God. Hanuman Jayanti Celebration falls on the full moon day of Chaitra month. Lord Hanuman or Maruti Nandan is Sindoor lover and every devotee applies Sindoor on his body as the ritual values describe its own significance. Notably, Hanuman Jayanti Celebration commemorates the birth day of Lord Hanuman.

Tuesday (and Saturday in some cases) is considered to be the day of Hanuman Ji & there are many religious beliefs and principles that are followed by people on this day. According to some of the Maruti’s Principles, men are not allowed to shave on Saturdays and Tuesdays.

People use to chant ‘Hanuman Chalisa’on this special day – Hanuman Jayanti to get the blessings of Lord Hanuman. Hanuman was having a true desire to only serve Lord Rama in his lifetime. So, you will find that in every temple of Rama and Sita Maa, Hanuman Ji is sitting in the legs of Rama with knee bend & folded hands. So, worship him with true heart and you will get the fruit of your will power and dedication one day or the other.

Religious Significance of Hanuman Jayanti Celebration

Lord Hanuman was basically sent on earth to help Lord Rama (One of the Avatars of Lord Vishnu), the divine son of King Dashratha, Ayodhya. The war has to be done between Lord Rama and the demon king of Lanka- Ravana. Hence, the Lord Brahma ordered some gods and goddesses to take avatar on earth as ‘Monkey’ or ‘Vanara’. Hence, the Anjani Mata and the Pawana, the God of Wind, gave birth to Hanuman. The others who were to accompany Hanuman as a formation of Vanara Sena were Sugriv, Angad, Bali and others. Finally, Lord Hanuman met Rama when he was searching for his wife Sita who was abducted by Ravana.
