History & Origin of Indian Republic Day

Soon after the Independence on 15th August 1947, India was not having any permanent constitution. The drafting committee that was formed on 28th August 1947 presented the first draft of the constitution in front of National Assembly & later, it was signed by the assembly in both Hindi and English versions on the date 24th January 1950.

The Indian constitution finally came into existence on 26th January 1950 as the Republic Day of India. This date was intentionally selected because it’s the anniversary of the Poorna Swaraj Day held on the same date and day in the year 1930. This constitution gave India the power t chose and build their own government and thus, leaving behind the complete end of dependency on British Empire. The proud day is always remembered when Dr. Rajendra Prasad tooth the oath as the first Indian President in the government house and later ended at Irwin Stadium, the place he unfurled the National Flag – Tiranga.
