Independence Day of India : Gala Day

15th August (Indian Independence Day) is day of pride and honour for citizens of the country. It is a gazetted national holiday for schools, colleges, banks, institutional organizations and offices or workplaces. Flag hosting ceremony are being organised by local authorities and the knowledge about freedom fighters is given to children and public. Also, cultural programs held at private organizations & schools or even at the public places like Malls and garden stages is quite a centre of attraction.

Moreover, the news channels provide the slides and autobiography of freedom fighters the whole day and the television broadcasts the patriotic movies defining the real life characteristics of the real Heros of Bharat Maa.

Indian Independence Day is the proud day for every Indian when his countrymen and brave soldiers fought with British army & achieved their freedom.

History of Indian Independence Day

India has struggled for his freedom for many years. The British mainly came to India for trade and business, but later, they spread their wings and formed a company named East India Company. When the Battle of Plassey (1757-1758) was held, the Britishers started taking control over India and then ruled India for next 200 years. In between all this, there was an unsung hero in 1875, a Sepoy mutiny named Mangal Pandey who first raised his voice against British treatment and behaviour towards Indians.

Since then, the flame of revolution grew up and spread up in form of various groups and leaders in every part of the country. Some of the real iconic leaders includes Subhash Chandra Bose, Bhagat Singh, Chandra Shekhar Azad, Rani Lakshami Bai, Jawaharlal Nehru, Lala Lajpat Rai, and Mahatma Gandhi, etc..who fought for the freedom in their own style and moral values.

Salt March, Quit India Movement & Satyagraha are some of the famous reforms initiated by Mahatma Gandhi, which got good support from people of India. Later after the Second World War, British empire faced a financial loses and the pressure fform the Indian leaders was also high. Hence, Indian got its Independence on 15th August, 1947 and Jawahar Lal Nehru as its first Prime Minister.

Indians celebrate this occasion by dedicating this day to the freedom fighters and providing the homage to those brave people who earned this freedom for us. Plus, the Prime Minister of India unfurls the tricolour Indian Flag at the Red Fort in New Delhi. Also, various venues and cultural programmes are organized all over the country that describes the beauty and simplicity of our country.
